I recommend that women become informed and start preparing for maximum long-term health benefits starting in their 40’s before they become symptomatic in the perimenopause phase. Simple, small lifestyle changes can make the transition smoother.

Perimenopause can begin in your 30s and continue for up to 15 years before
menopause, with timing varying for each woman. US is around 45-47 years old. Everyone’s experience of the body changes are different but common symptoms include hot flushes, insomnia, brain fog, unexplained weight gain and a host of other symptoms.

In the US, the average age for onset of menopause is 52 years old. There is no test to confirm it specifically but NAMS considers 12 consecutive months without a period the current definitive diagnosis for most women.
